Active Involvement,
Communication, and Collaboration

Among my most valuable experiences have been collaboration with my peers in both the BME and MMB programs. In addition to this, I have gained extensive knowledge and thoroughly enjoyed engaging in a wide variety of realms including circuitry and electrical analysis, physiology and working with living systems, and proteomic analysis and assay work— just to name a few. The intertwining of all of these sectors was been extremely insightful and the learning has been at the forefront of it all.
Most notably, the MMB collaboration project with Novonesis (pictured last) has pushed me to develop skills such as time management, accountability and critical-thinking skills. Particularly, learning how to coordinate with others to explain an outcome in a cohesive and professional manner is key to a successful presentation.

I had the pleasure of collaborating with CellTech, a startup developing stem cell technologies for veterinary applications, and Dr. Amanda Trinidade Hill at the CATALYZE Conference—a competition focused on bringing research from the lab to the market. Our team extensively studied and presented the solution's technology, market, business plan, and competitive advantages. As a result of our 3rd Place finish, we were graciously awarded a generous cash prize, where all proceeds were reinvested to support continued development of the startup.
Written communication is equally important as verbal communication in conveying complex ideas and key information. Literature reviews are excellent ways to synthesize sources and present arguments in a cohesive and compelling manner. This becomes especially crucial when addressing pressing global issues, such as food waste, which significantly contributes to the Earth's changing climate. In the review below, I decided to explore how reducing food waste can help reduce negative environmental impacts and promote sustainable practices. Click the link below to view.
